OUR MISSION IS TO BRING CHANGE!

I am Pradip Paudel, a Member of Parliament.

Nepal has undergone a significant political transformation since the establishment of democracy in 1951 through the Nepali Congress-led democratic movement and several mass movements in between, culminating in the establishment of a democratic republic in 2008. Following the transformation, we now have many issues to address to realize the benefits of this change. Key agendas such as underdevelopment, political instability, environmental crises, and corruption are our top priorities to focus on.

The fast-changing world has also created several other areas where today’s politicians should focus their attention. Non-traditional Security, Artificial Intelligence, the Gig Economy, Digital Infrastructure, and the Digital Divide are among the crucial areas that require attention. As an MP, I am fully committed to working in partnership with the public, civic societies, government institutions, and regional and global stakeholders to find better and sustainable solutions together.

For me, an effective approach to combat the challenges is through policy-making with a proper political culture, including good governance, foresightedness, and responsibility. My extensive socio-political career and commitments have encouraged me to take responsibility for building a better future through powerful interventions in policy-making.

Short Bio

Born on 14th March 1975 in Dhorphirdi, Tanahun, I spent my schooldays at Siddhartha Banasthali Institute, Kathmandu. My political consciousness was deeply rooted during my school days at Banasthali. I was actively involved in 1990’s Janaandolan (Mass Movement) as a member of the Nepal Student Union while I was studying in grade 9th.

Then, the country entered into a multi-party democracy system with constitutional monarchy. I joined  Amrit Science College (ASCOL), from where I completed my BSc. During, these periods, I was elected as the President of Campus’ Free Student Union in 1997.

However, my political/personal life too ran parallel with various political ups and downs faced by the nation since the country entered into the internal conflict and insurgency. In 2005, king Gyanendra dissolved the parliament and suspended the constitution.

Against the King’s action, I guided the students’ movement/protest since I had the responsibility of the coordinator of United Students’ Revolution to fight for Federal Republican Nepal. We overthrew the monarch and brought the Federal Republican System. Later, I was elected as the President of the Nepal Student Union. Then, Nepali Congress’ 13th general convention onwards, I have my regular appearances in Party’s central committee. In the previous 14th general convention, I lost the election for General Secretary.

Apart from political activities, I have actively participated in various educational and social activities for better/inclusive education and livelihoods.
