Minister for Health and Population Pradeep Poudel has said that the government is planning to vaccinate 1.6 million adolescent girls against cancer. Inaugurating ‘Free Health and Eye Camp’ organized by the Jan Kalyan Social Center established in Tokha, Kathmandu, he said that the government is planning to vaccinate 1.6 million adolescent girls between the ages of 10 and 14 against cancer.
“To prevent cancer in women, the government is going to provide anti-cancer vaccination to 1.6 million adolescent girls across the country from this coming Magh 22,” said Health Minister Poudel.
He said that the government has made arrangements for free cancer treatment for adolescent girls in five hospitals. He also informed that the government has taken forward an action plan to distribute free medicine for paralysis.
Health Minister Poudel mentioned that the government has planned to increase the amount of health insurance and spend it on the treatment of the common citizen by increasing the fund based on citizen contributions. “Currently, the amount of health insurance is Rs. 100,000, we are planning to increase it to Rs. 500,000,” he said.
He said that arrangements will be made to provide treatment through the insurance fund for the remaining health funds. He mentioned that although the health sector in Nepal has improved a lot, it is still not sufficient.
Tokha Municipality Mayor Prakash Adhikari said that the role played by the Jankalyan Social Center in social transformation is important. He urged the organization to continue to advance the field of social service.
Mayor Adhikari said that Tokha Municipality will support the development of the Jan Kalyan Social Center. District Police Range Kathmandu spokesperson, Superintendent of Police Nawaraj Adhikari, and Jan Kalyan Social Center advisor Bharat Dhakal said that the Jan Kalyan Social Center has made a significant contribution to the development of Tokha’s society and health sector.
